Voluntary Action Orkney (VAO) is a dynamic, high profile organisation that provides responsive and innovative support services and representation to the Third Sector in Orkney. The Third Sector comprises community organisations, voluntary organisations, social enterprises and volunteers.

We have the following vacancies

Development Worker

17.5 hours a week

£27,620 Pro Rata (including DIA and Pension Contribution)

Based in Kirkwall, Orkney

You will work closely with third sector organisations and communities throughout Orkney to identify their needs and issues and to develop and deliver appropriate services. These can range from advice on legal structures to governance and management support. This role will focus in particular on the provision of learning opportunities.

You should ideally have a background in community development, management, business or a related discipline and the ability to demonstrate an innovative and proactive approach to the provision of support services to third sector organisations.

VAO’s Connect Project provides individually customised skills development, training and volunteering opportunities for young people aged between 15 and 24 who require more choices and more chances to support positive transitions from adolescence to adulthood. Young people are supported to build resilience, confidence and transferable skills through a range of one to one, group work, complementary activities and community participation.

 

Both posts require a PVG scheme membership with regard to regulated work with children and protected adults.

Connect Project Support Worker

Autism and Learning Disability

35 Hours

Based in Kirkwall

Fixed term post: till March 2020

Pro Rata £23,833 (including DIA and pension contribution)

The Project Support Worker will work closely with the Co-ordinator to devise and deliver a range of individual development opportunities including volunteer placements for individuals with Autism and Learning Disabilities. You should have the ability to relate to young people with Autism and understand the issues that affect them and a flexible and sensitive approach to dealing with individual needs. You must be flexible, motivated and have the ability to work collaboratively within a small staff team. A current UK driving licence and transport is essential for this role.
