Development Worker, Adult Befriending Service

35 hours per week

£24,492 (including DIA and pension contribution)

until December 2020

Based in Kirkwall, Orkney

VAO’s Adult Befriending Service enables older people in Orkney to maintain their independence and remain living in their own homes for longer through delivery of befriending led, practical activities.

The Development Worker will help to recruit, train and support volunteer befrienders to deliver practical support to older people and to establish and facilitate one to one, group and intergenerational activities throughout Orkney. You will have the ability to relate to people from a variety of backgrounds and have a sensitive approach to the needs of vulnerable older people. In addition, you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The post holder will be required to become a PVG Scheme Member in relation to regulated

work with protected adults and children.
