Foundation Scotland - Baillie Gifford Community Awards Programme

Summary

The Baillie Gifford grants programme supports grass roots community organisations across the whole of Scotland. It replaces Foundation Scotland’s Express Grants programme. Priorities for the programme are: children and families, elderly people, education, environment, health, people who are physically disabled, homelessness, women and grass roots sports.

Fund award sizes

Minimum: £500 Maximum: £2,000

Notes on award amounts: Grants between £500 and £2,000 towards a maximum total project cost of £8,000. Turnaround time for decisions is 10 to 12 weeks from the deadline so please take this into consideration when planning events.

 Who can apply

Only constituted groups, with a governing document, can apply. Annual income in the most recent financial year must be less than £250,000. 

 How to apply

Online application form. Foundation Scotland manages a number of other grant making Trusts and if the Baillie Gifford programme is very oversubscribed they may match your application to one of these, if there is a good fit.

 Exclusions

Organisations with an annual income of more than £250,000; statutory organisations; work in schools, during school/lesson hours; individuals; grant requests for less than 25% of the project costs; trips abroad; second hand vehicles; general fundraising appeals or activities; projects which are mainly for the advancement of religion or politics; projects which do not benefit people in Scotland; retrospective funding.

 When to apply

Next deadline: 2nd Sep 2019

In 2019 there will be five rounds, the next deadlines for receiving completed application forms are 2 September and 2 December 2019.
