Access to Childcare Fund

The Access to Childcare Fund was launched on 6th July. This Scottish Government fund is being administered by Children in Scotland and will provide grants to test models of delivering accessible and affordable school age childcare for low income families, allowing parents to reduce childcare costs, work more flexibly and increase their incomes. The £3 million fund will be delivered over two years with a total of £1.5 million pounds allocated between successful applicants in this funding round.

We know that families currently rely on many different arrangements and services to meet their childcare needs. We are encouraging applications from services offering registered childcare, activity groups and clubs that work with school-age children and young people - such as breakfast clubs; after school clubs; holiday clubs; registered childminders; arts and activity-based clubs; youth work provision and play services. This could also include partners delivering cultural, outdoor or sports and leisure activities as well as integrating food provision. We welcome applications where partnerships approaches are taken to delivery of projects. Projects will be supported over the period of the fund and encouraged to change and adapt their delivery in response to local need.

-      The fund launches from 6 July and applications will be open for 3 weeks, closing on at 17:00 27 July.

-      Applications can be made electronically via Children in Scotland’s website:
