VAO exists to promote, support, inspire and develop the third sector in Orkney. VAO provides proactive, quality, responsive services to local organisations.

The Society organises the annual West Mainland Flower, Produce and Industrial Show.

Established in 2012, West Side Cinema offers the edge of world cinema in a relaxed and social atmosphere with cabaret style table seating, and you can bring your own drinks and snacks.

Develop and promote tourism on Westray and Papa Westray.

We encourage, develop and support crafts and crafting in Westray and Papa Westray. The craft goods are also made available for sale.

The group meets on a weekly basis with regular classes and opportunities to bead, and to learn from each other.

Community Councils provide an effective, strong voice within each community area offering sound, local advice on a range of community issues.

Westray Development Trust aims to develop the economic, social, and cultural sustainability of the community by harnessing the quality of our resources people and island environment.

Westray Healthy Living Centre has a fitness suite, pool, team changing rooms and two multi purpose meeting rooms.

Westray Heritage Trust educates the public in local heritage and other aspects of island life. The Heritage Centre is located in the middle of Pierowall village.

Westray Junior High School caters for pupils from 3 to 16 years. The school has a committed staff team and, in addition, is serviced by visiting itinerant teachers.

Westray Junior High school is at the centre of a vibrant island community.

Small sports group who meet to play netball for fun. There are two competitions annually competed in. The North Isles Sports and The North Isles Netball Cup.

The Youth Group is open to everyone of secondary school age and older teenagers. It aims to provide �a safe and supportive environment for learning, fellowship and sharing amongst young people�.

The pool is 15 meters in length and the depth ranges form 0.9 - 1.5 meters. Aquagliders are available to hire. The pool is open to the public on a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
