RSPB Scotland manages 12 reserves across the Orkney islands, protecting internationally important wildlife such as hen harriers, seabirds, and the unique Orkney vole. A key initiative is the Orkney Native Wildlife Project, a partnership to eradicate the invasive stoat, which threatens the native species. This project uses a range of methods, including the use of detection dogs, and has shown positive results for the native wildlife.
