Stromness Academy is a six year secondary school in Orkney with a catchment area covering the town of Stromness and the West Mainland. The current school roll is approximately 360 pupils. The school is on a well appointed campus situated in Stromness. This Comminity School is kept in excellent condition and is extremely well resourced. Classrooms are well equipped and the school has extensive playing fields, including a synthetic grass pitch and access to the local swimming pool. As a Community School, many facilities are available for hire to the public outside of school hours. PE facilities, the theatre and classrooms are used by a wide range of clubs and organisations, while the dining room is a popular venue for weddings and dances.
