The Community Learning Team at Orkney Islands Council is responsible for distributing the Orkney version of the Young Scot National Entitlement Card to all young people in the 11 – 25 year age group, residing in Orkney.
This free card combines the Young Scot Card with the National Entitlement Card offering a range of functions & services such as;
• Being a proof of age card, through the Proof of Age Standards Scheme (PASS) endorsed by the British Retail Consortium across the UK.

• Access to Young Scot discounts and special offers at over 1,800 places in Scotland and 200,000 places in 42 European countries.

• Being a swipe card for the cashless catering system at both Kirkwall Grammar School and Stromness Academy.

• Subsidised travel - reduced fares on bus and trains.

• Free Ferry Vouchers - On your child’s 16th birthday they will be entitled to receive two free return ferry vouchers for journeys between Orkney and the Scottish mainland per year. This entitlement continues until their 19th birthday. Pupils living on the Outer Isles will also be able to apply for additional vouchers to travel in to the Orkney mainland as part of this scheme.
