EASING OF COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS ON ISLANDS
23 March 2021
Further to the First Minister’s statement on 16 March 2021 on the proposed easing of current COVID-19 restrictions, the Scottish Government Islands Team are seeking views on what this will look like for the Orkney community. They are aware that local authority partners may also have been in contact for input on this matter so there is no obligation to respond if you have already contributed via that route.
Two options for easing the restrictions have currently been proposed, both of which are laid out in this document. The team are inviting you to share your views on these proposals and any additional comments you would like to submit to Scottish Government on this specific question.
Across Scottish Government local authorities, community councils, development trusts, resilience groups, business organisations and businesses themselves are being contacted to seek views on this matter to ensure as wide a representation from island communities as possible. These views will be considered alongside available scientific data to allow them to come to a conclusion that benefits island communities whilst ensuring their continued safety.
The timescales are incredibly tight for carrying out this targeted consultation and responses need to be returned by Friday 26 March to IslandsResilienceCovid-19Mailbox@gov.scot and please only submit your responses on this template.
