Constitutions
A constitution is a group’s governing document which sets out the rules on how it operates including aims, purpose(s), powers and the framework within which it works. If a group becomes incorporated (as a Company Ltd by Guarantee or a Community Interest Company for example) their constitution is extended and referred to as the Memorandum & Articles.
Here’s some questions that your group should think about:
- Where is your constitution?
- What is a constitution?
- Do you need to update your constitution?
- Do you need to make a change and not know how to do it?
- Do you want to change your legal structure?
If you need help answering any of these questions contact us – we can help! We’re happy to revise your existing constitution or help you write a new one. We have strong links with OSCR (The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator) and make sure that we’re always up to date with any new requirements. We can even help you complete your OSCR return!
For groups starting out, our Initial Questions for a new constitution form will be useful in taking you through the process.
