Admin Support

If you need an extra pair of hand to help with general admin, or just need someone to take minutes or arrange your meetings and circulate papers, our admin team are on hand to help. We have experience of working with both large and small organisations and will tailor our services to meet your needs. Examination of Accounts service

Are you a voluntary group or registered charity and need your accounts examined? Are you paying ‘over the odds’ for accountancy fees?

VAO can provide cost effective, high quality external scrutiny of your accounts that meets with OSCR Charity Regulations. Meeting Rooms

Our meeting rooms are ideal for meetings or training events. In a central location in Kirkwall, we can offer:

  • excellent customer service
  • a staffed reception area to greet your attendees
  • competitive prices with discounted rates for members
  • flexible room layouts to accommodate formal and informal events

Free Wi-Fi is available for use during your event and refreshments can also be provided. In addition to these great facilities, we also offer a range of office support services to help you prepare for your event including:

  • photocopying
  • printing
  • secretariat service, including minute taking and distribution of papers

Office Services

Whether it’s notes you want typed up, an Annual Report copied and bound, or leaflets printed, we can help. With reduced rates for members you’d be hard pushed to find more competitive rates so why not let us do all the hard work for you! Services include:

Payroll Services

We offer a monthly payroll service to both voluntary groups and small businesses. You don’t need to have a minimum number of employees to take advantage of this service and, with our competitive rates, we can take the stress out of processing payroll.

Step by Step Guide

Here’s a simple step by step guide if you’d like VAO to provide payroll services:

  1. If you’re not currently registered with HM Revenue and Customs for PAYE then you can do this online at the HMRC website.
  2. Contact VAO to arrange for a payroll account to be opened. Please have to hand your Company information, Employee details and Salary scales.
  3. Salary information must be provided to VAO by the date listed on the HMRC website.
  4. Once your monthly payroll information has been processed, you will receive a Company Totals printout, a Payroll Summary (which gives information for you to arrange payment of salaries, PAYE and National Insurance) and two copies of your employees payslips.

Holiday Pay

Statutory annual leave entitlement is currently 5.6 weeks – many employees already get contractual leave which is more than the basic entitlement. For useful information on holiday pay including a calcaulator to assist you in working out employees holiday entitlement go to the GovUK website.
