Computers can help people to gain or regain their independence by allowing them to shop or bank online. Technology can prevent isolation as the internet can connect people via email to family and friends. It can also provide something fun and relaxing to do with online games, TV, radio and other entertainment services. When something goes wrong with a person’s technology suddenly all of this is taken away – Abilitynet volunteers help them to get it back.

Abilitynet volunteers might help an older person with their general PC usage or they could be assisting with special hardware and software adaptations that would meet a disabled person’s specific technology needs.

Are you interested in this exciting opportunity? If so, apply now to start the process of becoming a volunteer. As you will often be working one-to-one with clients in their homes we will conduct a basic disclosure check and an interview will be conducted with the volunteer coordinator in your region.
