Next Step Initiative-Comic Relief Grant Programme Now Open
We are delighted to announce that Next Step Initiative (NSI) is partnering with Comic Relief as an intermediary providing financial support as well as improved vital capacity to Black Minority Ethnic (BME) community groups across Scotland. This is in recognition of the disproportionate impact that Covid-19 has had on Black and Asian communities, and to help address these inequalities as part of Comic Relief’s wider Covid-19 crisis response.
This partnership is very strategic considering that NSI is the first BME Charity in Scotland to act in the capacity of an intermediary grant-making organisation, providing micro-grants to BME third sector organisations across Scotland. This is no doubt a giant stride as we are better able to support grass-root organisations that work directly with marginalised communities, facilitating a shared understanding and progress across several frontiers. This ensures that the most vulnerable, socially and financially excluded harder to reach individuals are supported and empowered especially during the “Recovery and Renewal” phase, as well as help to build strength and resilience employing a sustainable, localised model during these changing times.
The coordinated action will ensure that underserved and marginalised communities are provided with the required support, which will not only alleviate the challenges of the current pandemic but will make a lasting difference to people’s lives post Covid-19.
