The Self-Harm Network Volunteer will utilise their unique understanding gained from managing their own mental health to assist staff in the smooth delivery of our Self-Harm support web chat.
Experience required
Aged 18 or over
Good communication and excellent listening skills
Open to supporting a diverse range of people with a non-judgemental approach
A kind, caring and empathetic person with a positive and hopeful attitude
Reliable and respectful
Ability to reflect and build on experience and ask for additional support if required
Confidence in volunteering as part of a team

- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to the interview on Wednesday 12th August, and Thursday 13th of August
- Shortlisted candidates will need to attend Training:
* Self-Harm Awareness Training: Wednesday 2th Sep. 6.00 pm – 9.00 pm
* Text base support training: Saturday 12th September 9.00 am – 5.00 pm
* Escalation and Safeguarding training: Wed 16th September 6.00 pm – 9.00 pm
- Successful candidates will be offered a place as a volunteer and will start their onboarding process, which includes an hour online induction and shadowing.

Minimum age: 18
All volunteers will need to provide 2 references and complete PVG check

Frequency & commitment
The chat operates between 6pm-10pm, 7 days a week.
We are looking for a commitment of one 4-hour shift a week, including 1 Friday or Saturday a moth. One year commitment.
