Neighbours to Friends CIC is recruiting local volunteer Social Connection Hosts across Scotland. Hosts run recurring, no-ticket-fee social sessions for adults aged 18+ using a simple structured social game as the icebreaker. No previous hosting or game experience is required: training, reusable materials and ongoing support are provided. The role suits someone reliable, friendly and comfortable welcoming people who may arrive alone, explaining simple rules and helping a group interact respectfully. You should live in, work in or regularly spend time in the local community you want to host. We then work with you to confirm a suitable nearby venue before launch. Typical responsibilities include welcoming participants, facilitating the session, encouraging inclusive participation and sending a short attendance/feedback record afterwards. This is an unpaid volunteer role. The purpose is social connection: helping strangers become familiar faces through repeated face-to-face contact.
Experience required
Reliable, welcoming and comfortable speaking with small groups. Clear communication, patience and respect for different people are important. Basic organisation is useful. No previous hosting or Werewolf experience is required.
Travel details
The role is designed to be local to the volunteer own community. We aim to confirm a suitable nearby venue, so regular travel outside the local area should not be necessary.
Training details
Neighbours to Friends CIC provides a host briefing, simple written guidance, reusable game materials and ongoing support. The volunteer can practise the session format before their first public event.
Restrictions
Volunteers must be aged 18 or over because the community sessions are for adults aged 18 and over and the host acts as the local session lead.
Frequency & commitment
Recurring role; exact frequency and times agreed with the volunteer and venue.
