Could you be the person who brings your local community together?
Imagine a welcoming evening at a local restaurant or another friendly venue, where adults who have never met before share a laugh, enjoy a simple group game and begin to make new friends. You could help make it happen, right where you live.

Neighbours to Friends CIC is looking for friendly, reliable volunteer Social Night Hosts across Scotland to bring adults aged 18+ together through recurring community social evenings. Perhaps you've seen our poster in a restaurant. Or perhaps you've found us here on Volunteer Scotland. Either way, we can help you explore setting up a social evening in your own local area. No previous hosting or game experience is needed. We provide full induction and practical training, step-by-step instructions, all reusable game materials and ongoing support. What matters most is wanting to help people feel welcome and connected.

What would you do?
• Welcome participants, including people arriving on their own.
• Explain and guide a simple social-deduction game that makes conversation easier.
• Encourage a friendly, respectful and inclusive atmosphere.
• Look after the materials supplied by Neighbours to Friends CIC.
• Share a short attendance and feedback update after each evening.

The game is an icebreaker. The real purpose is helping people meet, talk and form local connections.

Where would you volunteer?
Near you, in your own community, anywhere in Scotland.

Saw our poster at a restaurant?
Tell us the name and location. We would love to explore hosting the evenings there, subject to that restaurant's agreement and suitable arrangements.

Found this opportunity online?
Tell us your town or local area. We will work with you to identify and agree a suitable nearby venue.
You do not need to find or pay for a room yourself, own equipment or travel to another city.

What support is provided?
Full training from scratch; a chance to practise before leading; ready-to-use game equipment and guides; advice on welcoming newcomers, running an inclusive session and recording attendance; help with venue arrangements and launch; and ongoing CIC support.

Who can apply?
Adults aged 18+ who are friendly, dependable, patient and willing to learn. You do not have to be an experienced entertainer or game expert. This is an unpaid, ongoing local volunteering role.

Commitment: We aim for a recurring weekday evening. Timing and frequency will be agreed with the volunteer and confirmed venue before launch. Our community social evenings have no ticket fee for participants.

Ready to bring people together?
