The 2nd Orkney (Kirkwall) Scouts are looking for new Team Members to help support and run their groups.
Team Members are volunteers who plan, deliver, and support an amazing programme for young people.
They can volunteer flexibly. Some may give their time every week, while others may give as much or as little time as they want.
What could a volunteer gain from the experience:
Having easy, fun, and accessible learning opportunities, so they can gain knowledge on how to volunteer with young people and adults in a safe and inclusive way, develop various skills through volunteering, and grow in confidence.
Experience required
-Effective Communication: The ability to explain tasks clearly to young people and collaborate smoothly with other adult leaders.
-Activity Planning & Organisation: Helping design programs, manage time, and keep track of resources for weekly meetings or camps.
-Safety & Risk Awareness: Keeping a sharp eye on safety procedures, safeguarding practices, and basic first aid.
-Positive & Inclusive: Bringing an encouraging, patient, and welcoming energy so that every young person feels included.
-Resilient & Flexible: Being able to smile and pivot to a backup plan when an outdoor activity gets rained out or things don't go perfectly.
-Servant Leadership: A willingness to guide and mentor young people to help them build "skills for life" rather than just dictating rules.
No formal prior background in scouting is typically required, as full training is provided. Any transferable experience working with children, volunteering in the community or handling basic admin is highly desirable.
