As a Community Awareness Volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in raising awareness about prostate cancer within your local community.
By organising and delivering awareness talks, hosting information stands, and engaging with groups, you will help educate others and inspire action. You'll use and grow your local knowledge, connections and networks to arrange and deliver awareness raising activities in your local community.. You will identify opportunities, audiences and spaces to connect with community members and share key prostate cancer risk awareness messages. You may have lived experience of prostate cancer or a connection to Prostate Cancer UK, or you have a wide experience of supporting others. This will help increase understanding of prostate cancer, encourage early detection, and drive support for our mission. This role is open to everyone, and you will play a vital role in reaching more people and making a meaningful impact.
Experience required
There is no need for you to have a background in healthcare, you’ll receive the training to deepen your knowledge of prostate cancer risk and be buddied up with an experienced volunteer who will help you build your confidence.
To volunteer with us, you'll need internet access and a smartphone, tablet or computer. You'll also need to be willing to use online systems, email and websites. We use an online platform called VolunteerHub to communicate with volunteers, manage activities, book training and events, submit expenses, and keep volunteer information up to date. Support and guidance will be provided to help you use the system.
You'll also be buddied up with an experienced volunteer who can help guide and support you. You'll also have the opportunity to shadow awareness events with them to help grow your confidence (geographical dependant).
