Finding out that you or a family member has diabetes is hard. It's often helpful to meet other people who have been through something similar. Our network of family and community groups can offer understanding, help, and support at an important time.
Diabetes UK groups are based in the community and are run by a number of dedicated volunteers, each having different skills and experience.
Family Group Event Assistants are essential to helping the groups run events for children and families. There is something for everyone to get involved in.
Volunteers may help with setting up and delivering events, providing behind‑the‑scenes support, assisting with event‑day logistics, and contributing to PR and promotion for events. General support across activities may also be included, depending on availability and interest.
Experience required
No specific skills or experience are required, just a willingness to help and support people living with Type 1 diabetes and those affected by it.
