Are you interested in learning how you can best support a young person who has been affected by someone else’s drug or alcohol use?
The course has a focus on young people aged between 12 and 26 years old, who are impacted by another person’s drug or alcohol use. Young people are impacted by other people’s substance use in many complex ways.
This session explores how we understand the needs of young people, the barriers they face, and how practitioners can respond effectively.
By completing this training, you will be able to:
- Recognise that each young person has unique needs and experiences, and understand the importance of relationship-based practice.
- Identify the barriers to support experienced by young people affected by someone else’s substance use.
- Identify methods to effectively connect with, and to support, young people affected by someone else’s substance use.
Why is this important?
Working with young people affected by someone else’s alcohol or drug use is complex, and getting our approach right can lead to meaningful connection and support.
This course will show you the Scottish Families approach – and give you confidence in using this in your work.
