This Generations Working Together course is aimed at anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of intergenerational work, its purpose, impact and practical application to enable them to apply this within their own work.

Whether you are new to intergenerational work or looking to deepen your practice, the International Certificate in Intergenerational Practice (ICIP) course offers a unique opportunity to:

  • Gain a nationally recognised qualification
  • Learn how to design and deliver impactful intergenerational projects
  • Connect with like-minded professionals across Scotland and beyond
  • Access expert guidance and resources from Generations Working Together

The course will consist of 3 on-line modules taking approximately 75 hours to complete over 8 weeks. It starts on Tuesday 23 September and finishes on Monday 17 November 2025. Each student will receive support from an online tutor. Live sessions, interactive activities, and practical assignments are included and the training is suitable for professionals across health, social care, education, community development, and more.

On completion students will understand:

  • What Generations Working Together means by intergenerational practice and projects and what they can achieve.
  • The ways in which intergenerational practice and projects are of relevance in different contexts and situations and why they are so important in today’s changing society.
  • How intergenerational practice and projects can contribute to more inclusive communities and workplaces.
  • Recognise the importance of monitoring and evaluating intergenerational projects.
  • Some of the opportunities and issues, which can arise in monitoring and evaluating an intergenerational project.
