Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) Orkney and Skills Development Scotland (SDS) are holding the third Orkney Careers Fair on Thursday 1 October 2026.
This FREE event will be held in the Arena, Pickaquoy Centre, 9.30am-6pm and is open to school pupils, parents and carers and, the general public.
There will be almost 70 exhibitors, including employers, universities and colleges, training providers and employability support services. They will be on hand to discuss career opportunities, vocational and academic pathways and the support that individuals can access to help them take the next step on their career journey.
Voluntary Action Orkney's Volunteering Team will also be there to talk about how volunteering can help you explore your career opportunities and develop new skills.
Pupils at local secondary and junior high schools will be taken along to the event, but we would also welcome parents and guardians to come along to learn more about the opportunities and support that is available for their child. Details of school pupil’s attendance will be shared by their school.
If you would prefer to attend this event during a quieter time, we are offering a Quiet/Relaxed session between 11.45am and 1pm. This is available for any young people or adults who would benefit from attending when the event is less busy.
Whether you are just starting on your career journey and considering your options, looking to return to work after a career break or considering a career change, come along and learn more about what opportunities exist for you in Orkney and further afield.
Careers Advisers from SDS will also be at the event to give impartial, one-to-one advice on options and opportunities including employment, training, apprenticeships and volunteering.
