Orkney Violence Against Women and Girls Partnership is running this full-day course delivered by the Scottish Centre for Personal Safety.
The training will provide women with practical self-defence skills alongside comprehensive theory, with plenty of opportunity for questions, discussion and tailored advice.
You will learn about:
- the law around self-defence and reasonable use of force
- recognising warning and danger signs
- voice control, defensive stance
- understanding effective strike zones
- the use of improvised weapons
- practical scenarios
You will also be taught
- breakaway techniques from wrist and clothing grabs
- escapes from strangulation
- defence against frontal and rear attacks
- strategies for responding to ground attacks
This multi-award-winning, empowerment-focused and trauma-informed Personal Safety course is beneficial for frontline workers or staff who may work alone or enter homes and other vulnerable situations as part of their role.
