This is a day event, aiming to provide attendees with a good understanding of broader work around suicide, both in terms of raising awareness and to highlight support available to individuals and their families.

The Orkney Public Protection Committee has organised this event for practitioners and members of the public who are interested in finding out more about services and support available in Orkney raising awareness of suicide prevention. Information is aimed at practitioners supporting those experiencing suicidal ideation, as well as family members, friends, or individuals concerned for their own wellbeing or the wellbeing of others.

An overview of training opportunities will be available, along with signposting towards resources aimed at building confidence in having conversations about suicide. There are a number of guest speakers attending, including representatives from:

  • Suicide Prevention Scotland
  • RSABI
  • Mike Palmer (Three Dads Walking)

The speakers will be outlining the work they are undertaking to help raise awareness of suicide and suicide prevention. There will also be a panel discussion comprising representatives from local services who will be talking about the support and services available locally. Attendees will be able to submit questions (anonymously) to the panel at the time of registration or on the day.

Booking is essential.
