1001 Critical Days Foundation awards grants up to £100,000 per year for up to 5 years to UK registered charities delivering work that supports babies from pregnancy to the age of 2.

Key Criteria

The building blocks for lifelong emotional and physical wellbeing are laid down during in the first 1001 days (from pregnancy to age 2). The fund prioritises projects and initiatives that deliver the greatest impact for babies, and they are focused on supporting work that measurably improves outcomes for babies.

The foundation only supports work that takes place in family hubs and similar “one stop shop” settings. This is because these spaces are universally accessible and destigmatising, and having services under one roof improves the experience for babies and families.

Projects could include:

  • Infant feeding support
  • Parenting programmes
  • Parent-infant relationship support
  • Perinatal mental health support
  • Support for dads, carers and non-birthing partners
  • Support for communities experiencing marginalisation or discrimination

They expect to fund between five and ten charities per funding round, depending on the size of applications received. They are unlikely to award a grant that is more than 50% of your current annual turnover.
