The National Churches Trust is the national, independent, charity dedicated to promoting and supporting church buildings of historic, architectural and community value across the UK. The Large Grant Programme can award grants towards major urgent structural repair projects, or the introduction of kitchens and accessible toilets.

Key Criteria

Priority is given to projects that demonstrate well-developed plans for the building that are supported beyond the congregation, and into the future.

They offer funding of up to £50,000 towards major urgent structural repair projects that are costed at more than £80,000 including VAT. They will also consider projects costed at more than £30,000 including VAT that introduce kitchens and accessible toilets to enable increased community use. Their grants never exceed 50% of the project cost.

Applying to this fund is a two stage process. The first stage is to complete a form to check that the parameters of your project are suitable for the programme.
