Scottish EDGE is a competition aimed at identifying and supporting Scotland’s up-and-coming, innovative, high-growth potential entrepreneurial talent.

Applicants should have an ambitious growth strategy and a commitment to deliver upon it.

Key Criteria

Competitions are:

  • Scottish EDGE: For early-stage companies/social enterprises across all sectors, offering funding of up to £100,000 on a split grant/loan basis.
  • Young EDGE: For companies where all directors are under the age of 30 offering a grant only award of up to £15,000. 
  • Wild Card EDGE: For pre-trading companies, sole-traders and partnerships, offering a grant-only award of up to £15,000.
  • Social Enterprise EDGE: For Social Enterprises who clearly demonstrate how their business enriches communities and makes a contribution to society, offering funding of up to £75,000 on a split grant/loan basis.

To apply your organisation must be Incorporated at Companies House - Scottish EDGE is open to Ltd Companies and registered Social Enterprises/Charities only.

The company must:

  • have been in operation for less than five years
  • have fewer than 24 employees
  • have a business bank account
  • be capable of employing at least five more people over the next 3 years
