SSE leading developer and operator of renewable energy. Their community investment programme delivers financial support to a diverse range of community projects near to their renewable developments.
The Community Investment Fund can support projects that:
- develop skills and abilities to implement projects that are important to the island’s future
- support the acquisition, development and use of community assets
- increase the involvement with local organisations and community activity
- overcome the barriers that can prevent disadvantaged or excluded members of the community from enjoying a high quality of life, particularly young people and the elderly
- involve them in caring for the environment and ensuring it is protected for future generations
- strengthens the local economy through community-led entrepreneurial activity
Applying groups and organisations do not need to be a registered charity but do need to have a constitution (governing document or set of rules) and not be set up for individual profit.
Applications are considered at Community Council meetings. The deadline for submission is 4 weeks before the date of the meeting.
