The Veterans’ Foundation provides grants to eligible organisations that provide assistance to serving and former members of the armed forces community, operational qualified seafarers and their immediate families. 

  • Standard Grants of up to a maximum of £30,000 are available.  This can be for one year or a multi-year grant for up to three years (£10,000 per year, over three years).
  • Salary Grants of up to a maximum of £75,000 are available for the exclusive use of salary costs over a three-year period, with the maximum annual grant being £25,000 (£25,000 per year, over three years).

Key Criteria

The range of charities and organisations supported is extensive and includes areas such as:

  • homelessness
  • employability
  • financial disadvantage
  • disability
  • welfare issues
  • mental health
  • support for families and children
  • assistance during older age 

The Veterans' Foundation will accept grant applications from organisations that do not exclusively support Armed Forces’ beneficiaries, information will be required as to why the service given to Armed Forces’ beneficiaries differs from your other services.  Information on what the additional/different needs of these beneficiaries are, and why your organisation is best placed to deliver the project should be included in your application.

The Veterans’ Foundation encourages applications from under-represented groups such as: 

  • People with additional support needs
  • Ethnic minorities
  • LGBT+ community
  • Female groups 

The trustees will consider a range of factors including the projects or items being funded, the number of beneficiaries, the importance of the grant to the applicant organisation, the efficiency of the organisation and the needs of the beneficiaries.
