We have an exciting opportunity to join Voluntary Action Orkney (VAO) as a Supported Volunteering Coordinator.

VAO provides support to the development and sustainability of local third sector activity, for example, volunteering, community groups, charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises.

The Supported Volunteering Coordinator oversees VAO’s Supported Volunteering service. They will empower individuals facing barriers such as disabilities, mental health conditions, or previous convictions, to actively participate in their community through volunteering. This role involves recruiting, training, and supporting Volunteer Mentors who provide direct assistance to volunteers, ensuring that participants have the guidance, encouragement, and resources needed for a positive and sustainable volunteer experience.

The post holder will be required to work in a flexible manner and carry out specific tasks as required by line manager. Knowledge and experience of delivering training, ideally in a social services or community support setting is beneficial.

The contract is temporary until 31 December 2026 with a possible extension to 31 March 2027.
