Companies House has announced several updates to company legislation this year. If your charity is registered with them, they could affect you.

From 27 January 2025: Protecting your information
Individuals are now able to request the suppression of certain information from historical documents.

From 18 November 2025: Identity verification
Identity checks are now required for
- New and existing directors
- People with significant control (PSCs). Read the ‘Summary guide for companies – register of people with significant control’ for more information about PSC.

From 1 February 2026: Companies House fees
The electronic filing fee for the Confirmation Statement will increase to £50. Other Companies House fees will also be changing.

From 1 April 2027: Filing accounts by software only
All accounts (including dormant accounts) will have to be filed using commercial software. Paper and web submissions for accounts will close and it will no longer be possible to submit hard copies by post or to upload a copy onto the website.
