Disclosure Scotland are asking organisations to notify them when a PVG scheme member stops carrying out a regulated role with their organisation.

This is the next stage in the implementation of the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020 where anyone joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme from 1 April, 2026 will be enrolled in a 5 year membership for the type of regulated role they have joined for, replacing the current lifetime membership model.

PVG scheme membership will last for 5 years from the date scheme members join and will be required to be renewed every 5 years.

To notify Disclosure Scotland of any changes to PVG scheme members, you should email dsupdate@disclosurescotland.gov.scot with the individual’s:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • PVG scheme number

Early notification to Disclosure Scotland will help to reduce unnecessary admin during the changeover period and ensures organisations do not receive updates they are no longer entitled to.

Further information about the implementation of the 5-year scheme membership will be provided in due course.

PVG scheme membership became a legal requirement for all regulated roles with children and protected adults under the new Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020 from 1 April this year.
