From 1 April 2026 individuals joining the PVG scheme will automatically be enrolled in a five-year membership tailored to their specific regulated role. This replaces previous lifetime membership model.
PVG scheme members who joined before 1 April 2026, will not need to do anything. They will be contacted by Disclosure Scotland when they are moved to the five-year PVG scheme membership.
PVG scheme members will then be required to renew their membership every 5 years.
Groups and organisations must let Disclosure Scotland know when a PVG member stops doing a regulated role for them. This can be done by sending an email to: dsupdate@disclosurescotland.gov.scot.
Disclosure Scotland can provide a list of PVG scheme members currently linked to your group or organisation to help you ensure your records are up to date. Email: dsupdate@disclosurescotland.gov.scot and include your registered body and countersignatory codes and the information will be sent to you.
