OSCR is asking charities to make a note of when providing their trustee information becomes a legal requirement.
On or after 30 June 2025, OSCR will begin collecting charity trustee information through their website. Any charity completing a new online annual return will be required to have trustee information as part of the submission. Find out more about what details must be provided and what information will be made public on the OSCR website.
Before this date, make sure you:
- Inform all trustees about this upcoming change
- Collect the required trustee information - go to the OSCR website for a list of the required information
- Ensure relevant individuals (up to 3 per charity) have access to OSCR Online. More information can be found in the 'Managing charity users' section of the OSCR website.
From 31 August 2025, new rules on the automatic disqualification of individuals from acting in Scottish charities will come into force under the Charities (Regulation and Administration) (Scotland) Act 2023.
OSCR have published guidance outlining the changes on their website. All charities should review this guidance and take appropriate action if the new criteria applys to anyone in their organisation holding the relevant roles.
