The evening put together and run by the group of young volunteers from Kirkwall Grammar School with support from staff at VAO featured, music, dancing and the opportunity to support a local charity.
The Square Wheels kicked the night off with a lively performance including a great cover of 'Folsom Prison Blues' and young West Mainland rockers, Absinthe, brought the gig to an end with a mix of originals and covers, which included 'Killing in the Name of' by Rage Against the Machine.
Other performers included:
- Colin Nicholson and Friend
- The Brewers
- The Montgomery Sutherland Band
- Glass Half Full
- Scaan
A wide range of items had been donated by local businesses for the charity auction. You could bid for everything from travel and gig tickets to jewellery, from knitwear to a whisky experience and even an inflatable children's party.
With quite a few musicians involved in ROAR this year, they put together a ceilidh band for the occasion and the dancing brough the night to a close.
The event which really did have something for everyone raised a total of £2309.70 for local mental health charity Soma’s Light.
