The Code of Fundraising Practice for the UK has been revised and is currently in the implementation stage. The new code will be effective from 1 November 2025. To view a copy of the code visit the fundraising regulator website.

The Scottish Fundraising Adjudication Panel was established for the purposes of overseeing enhanced self-regulation of fundraising in Scotland, to be responsible for fundraising standards in Scotland and to handle fundraising complaints related to Scottish registered charities. All registered charities in Scotland should abide by the code in relation to their own fundraising, and complaints regarding the fundraising practices of Scottish registered charities can be adjudicated by the panel, if complainants are not satisfied with responses made by the charities directly. Whilst the Panel can only respond to complaints against registered charities, the principles of the code would be good practice for all charitable groups and organisations to work to. The 4 priorities of the code are to fundraise legally, openly, honestly and with respect.

The Fundraising Regulator is holding a free online webinar on 15 October at 12 noon. This 1 hour session will share practical insights on applying the rules in day-to-day fundraising. Register to attend using Zoom.

To demonstrate to the public that you fulfill good practice guidelines in relation to your fundraising, you might want to register for the The Good Fundraising Guarantee. This is a positive statement about your values, culture and practices and outlines to the public how they can expect to be treated by fundraisers and charities. While the standards for fundraising are set out in full within the Code of Fundraising Practice the guarantee gives the public an understanding of the principles of fundraising and by displaying the statement on your website, this outlines your commitment to donors in Scotland. You can find more information about this on the Scottish Fundraising Adjudication Panel website.
