Volunteer Scotland have launched their new Knowledge Gateway, a central hub designed to support volunteering practice, development, and impact across Scotland.

The launch follows a successful soft launch phase shaped extensively by user feedback and real-time testing. Insight from volunteer involving organisations has been vital in building a platform that reflects the needs, challenges, and aspirations of the sector.

Rosie Wylie, Deputy CEO and Head of Innovation and Operations at Volunteer Scotland said:

The Knowledge Gateway marks a strategic step forward for volunteering in Scotland. By bringing together high-quality guidance, training, and shared learning from Volunteer Scotland and a range of Trusted Partners and Public Information Providers we are strengthening the foundation that supports volunteers and the organisations they power.

The Knowledge Gateway brings together a wide range of practical guidance, tools, training opportunities and insights. It offers dedicated support for developing and managing volunteering programmes, alongside opportunities for learning and professional development through training and events. Users will find resources that help organisations demonstrate best practice and promote inclusive, positive volunteering experiences, including access to the national Employer Supported Volunteering Framework.

The Knowledge Gateway also highlights a range of trusted partners providing expert sector support and offers access to bespoke one‑to‑one development services for organisations seeking more tailored guidance. A new Volunteering Practitioner Community will also be introduced soon, creating a dedicated space for practitioners to connect, share insights, and learn from one another.

The launch represents the beginning of an evolving resource that will continue to grow over time. New guidance, insights, opportunities, and tools will be added regularly. Development of the Gateway will be shaped by collaboration across the voluntary sector, emerging challenges and priorities, and the lived experience of practitioners who use the platform.

Volunteer Scotland welcomes ongoing feedback to ensure the Knowledge Gateway remains relevant, practical, and grounded in the realities of volunteering across Scotland.

You can find the Knowledge Gateway on the Volunteer Scotland website.
