The Community Link Practitioner Service is a partnership project between Voluntary Action Orkney (VAO) and NHS Orkney. One of the practitioners Linsey Drever, has been named as a finalist in the 'Outstanding Scottish Community Link Worker' category at the Scottish Community Link Worker Network Awards.
Teams from across Scotland were invited to nominate colleagues who demonstrated the extraordinary impact Community Link Workers have in reducing inequalities, strengthening communities and improving lives across Scotland. The theme for this year was 'Rooted in Communities, Growing Together'.
Linsey Drever was nominated after outstanding feedback from a client was received at the Social Prescribing Day event at the Balfour Hospital in March. Of being shortlisted Linsey said:
It was a lovely surprise - one that is very humbling. As a Community Link Practitioner we can make a huge difference in someone life at a time when they need it the most. It's rewarding to be able to help someone find the support they need. To be recognised like this, highlights the impact our work can have.
The awards are set to take place on 22 September in Edinburgh as part of the annual Scottish Community Link Worker Network Conference. Find more information about the conference and the awards on the Voluntary Health Scotland website.
