Sporting Memories have launched a creative competition aimed at young people across Orkney to capture their memories from this year’s International Island Games held on the island.
‘Memories of 25’ is asking young people aged from 4 to 25 to share their highlight from the sporting event held across Orkney in July 2025, with a range of prizes on offer for the best entries and the chance to appear at an upcoming exhibition on the island.
Sporting Memories are looking for young people to share their memories – whether it’s through a drawing or artwork they can create, writing a short summary of their memory, or sharing a picture from the Games – they want young Orcadians to share their recollections.
These memories will be collated and eventually displayed on the Replay Memories website, ensuring a long-lasting legacy for the Games, providing Orcadians with the chance to have a library of memories they can fondly look back upon.
Young people who enter could win either a Kirkwall BID or a Love2Shop voucher, if chosen as one of the three prize winning entries across five respective age categories, ranging from primary school students, secondary school students and young adults all the way up to 25-years-old.
Full list of age categories are as follows:
- Primary School - P1 to P3
- Primary School - P4 to P5
- Primary School - P6 to P7
- Secondary School - Ages 11 to 16
- And Young Adults (post Secondary School) - Ages 16 to 25
Chris Wilkins, CEO and Co-Founder of Sporting Memories is encouraging young people to enter the competition. He said:
We’ve been thrilled to be part of the Orkney 2025 International Island Games experience, and now we want to ensure there is a legacy of long-lasting memories from the Games – and one way we’re doing this is through the capture of Orcadians’ memories through this competition.
We’re asking young people across the Islands, whether at school, college or with the support of their families to share their memories to help us build a library of amazing memories we can share and display forever on our Replay Memories website!
Entries should be sent via email to Orkney25@sportingmemories.uk, with the deadline for submissions being Sunday 30 November 2025.
