St Magnus International Festival takes place around midsummer each year and is a multi-arts festival with music at its core. It is highly regarded on the international arts circuit and presents some of the best in the world in Orkney. Throughout the year, the festival creates projects across the Orkney Islands.
The festival is run by a core professional team with huge support from volunteers who deal with everything from stewarding to box office, technical crew to transport and hospitality. It also promotes many projects which involve volunteer performers ranging from the Festival Chorus to theatre performances and opportunities for local performing groups from all art forms.
