Stromness Museum is one of Scotland's oldest independent museums, showcasing Orkney's social, natural, and maritime history through artifacts from its past as a maritime crossroads. It holds significant collections, including items from Skara Brae, Captain Cook's voyages, and the scuttled German High Seas Fleet from Scapa Flow. The museum also features natural history exhibits, like fossils and bird collections, and highlights Orkney's connections to Canada and the Arctic, particularly the Arctic explorer John Rae.
