Westray Development Trust aims to develop the economic, social, and cultural sustainability of the community by harnessing the quality of our resources people and island environment. Membership is open to any person over the age of 18 whose main residence is Westray.
The trust owns the trading subsidiary Westray Renewable Energy Ltd. This company that manages the community wind turbine which is the primary income source for the trust.
We also offer a Wellbeing Service. Our Wellbeing Coordinator works alongside residents to help them with issues around health, money and being part of the community. They can also develop new and support existing, projects and groups for the island.
