Orkney Dance and Fitness – Active Movers

Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing – Case Study 2

What we have done so far – The first funded class has taken place in Dounby, “Brew and Blether”. Equipment has been ordered including the internet upgrade to allow for classes to be available online from mid-May. Publicity is going out for sessions in Birsay .

Orkney Dance & Fitness have been awarded funding from the Scottish Government for our Active Movers Project for classes to be held twice weekly in Harray Community Centre and Birsay Community Centre.

You do not have to live exclusive to these areas to attend!

What is Active Movers?

This is a low impact class focusing on balance, strength and flexibility. It’s aimed at anyone over 50 but is perfect for beginners to exercise too. After the 45 minute class set to some classic sing along songs (we can’t help but sing along ? ?) there will be a coffee and blether afterwards.

You don’t have to have ever done an exercise class in your life nor do you need to be super fit. This is for anyone that wants to meet folk, socialise, get fit and have fun at the same time.

Equipment will be provided, and it’s completely FREE!
