Property Level Flood Protection: Monday 25th – Friday 29th April 2022

In September 2021, the Scottish Flood Forum attended Orkney to deliver awareness sessions in relation to flood mitigation measures that could be utilised by property owners on Orkney.
Scottish Flood Forum are a registered charity whose overall aim is to reduce the impacts of flooding on individuals and communities, through providing immediate support and by establishing a network of community resilience groups in flood risk areas to equip communities to cope with the impacts and threat of flooding.
Following the workshops in September, SFF are returning to Orkney between Monday 25 and Friday 29 April 2022, in order to carry out a number of FREE Property Level Flood Protection assessments which will provide householders with a detailed report on flood resistance measures for their respective properties from a recognised impartial expert.
In order to maximise their time here, the SFF are keen to hear from anyone who would be interested in receiving this service but who may have missed the inputs in September or who haven’t registered yet. They still have some slots available and are looking to maximise their time whilst on Orkney with the provision of additional assessments, if possible.
ASK:
- Working in association with the Scottish Flood Forum, we would like the attached and the above circulated to Community Resilience Groups and Community Associations across Orkney.
- They also request the posters are displayed at local shops, community centres etc and included in any website events, social media, leaflets or community produced literature which can be used to advertise the event wider and bring awareness to the services provided by SFF.
- Any interested parties are asked to get in touch with SFF directly using the contact details provided in the leaflet and letter.
- They are also keen to assist Communities in developing specific plans which can be used in the prevention of or response to a flood event.
- In order to register for an assessment, you need not have attended the event in September 2021.
